Episode 12: Going Solo
It probably says a lot about my inner child’s psyche, but having Nancy get serially abused never gets old for me. I hope you guys feel the same.
The other day, I was working on ideas for the new misplaced comics that I’m going to start shooting (for those of you new to the comic, episodes 1-45 have already been posted elsewhere, and are just being George Lucased and re-released here, to give me time to make the new ones) and I had a childhood flashback to another weird thing I used to do with action figures.
No, it’s not the firecracker thing, or any other kind of explosives (and not THAT either, you pervert). I used to mummify them.
I’ve had a passing obsession with Egyptology for most of my life, and I discovered that all you needed were paper towels cut into strips, and a glass of water, to make a really simple form of papier mache, and I would wrap one or more action figures up in the wet strips of paper, and let them dry overnight. Sometimes it was just a leg cast, but more often it would be complete mummification.
(I spent a lot of time by myself as a kid, but you may have already figured that out by now.)
So I was thinking I might incorporate that into the comic’s storyline at some point, and I was wondering if any of you, handful of readers, had any stories of misused and abused action figures (or other toys) that came as a result of childhood creativity. Leave a comment, and let me know.
Have a great weekend, and come back Monday for more tales of abused plastic people!
